Viddler Video of Austin

Did you know that the average person has 1000 digital images on their computer, which is the equivalent of 3-4 years of photos.   Savannah took a photo of Austin everyday of his life except two.  When we put them all on my computer there were 822  from their collection!  Then you add my photos and the grandparents photos which we are still compiling … wow!   Thank YOU Savannah and Tyler for giving us exceptional digital moments of Austin.

Savannah did a remarkable job of selecting and organizing the photos and selecting the music.  You will laugh and cry and smile again as you reflect on Austin’s life.  After all he is safe in the arms of his Heavenly Father.

Savannah and Tyler have a plate on their coffee table with the saying,  ”Life is not measured by the breaths we take but the moments that take our breath away.”

Austin gave us all many moments that touched our lives and we will never forget.

Getting Focused

“Don’t start your day until you finished it” – Jim Rohn
Make sure you are waking up to the day knowing what you are going to be doing.

“The person who wakes up and says, ‘I wonder what is going to happen today?’ Should go back to bed and wake up and prepare for the next day.”

Use everyday to its fullest. Taking days casually will destroy your ability to live the life you really wish for.

Have a great day, plan for tomorrow and make it happen.

How many calories in 1 pound of weight?

About 3,500 calories adds up to about 1 pound. This applies whether they are food calories coming in, or calories (burned by exercise) going out.

If you eat 3,500 calories more than your body needs, you will put on about 1 pound.  If you use up 3,500 calories more than you eat, you will lose about 1 pound in weight.

So there you have it!

Goodbye Little Man!

Austin Tyler Johnson

The last 6 days have been the longest in my life.

On Monday, Tyler’s 30th birthday I received a frantic call from him that Austin was on the way to the hospital.

He had quit breathing and his body was cold.  After 90 minutes they let Tyler and Savannah know that their baby,  our beloved grandson, Austin Tyler Johnson was gone.

An autopsy was done and they found no foul play , just a healthy baby boy.  SIDS was the official cause of death.

We buried little Austin Tyler Johnson on Friday, February 20th.  The family had a special send off for his big brother Dylan on Saturday morning at the gravesite with all the beautiful flowers surrounding Austin’s physical resting place.  Brother Larry knelt down and spoke directly to Dylan, he then read a note that Dylan had written to Austin.  He asked if Dylan would like to write a message on a balloon and send it to heaven.  Dylan nodded yes.  The first balloon the Dylan tried to write on broke as it touched the grass.  I watched as Dylan wrote, “I will remember you all ways” and colored in a big red heart on a white balloon. Tyler and Savannah signed that balloon too.

We all passed 3 other balloons around and wrote notes.  Brother Larry was wise in letting Dylan know that sometimes the balloons would get caught in the trees or break on the way up into the sky, but it didn’t matter because Austin knew what we were writing and he would get our love notes.

We then released the balloons and watched them make their way to heaven.   The interesting thing was that the wind was blustering that day and there was a big tree, void of leaves near the gravesite.   As we released the balloons, the first one which was Dylan’s headed straight for the tree, followed by the remaining three.  We all held our breath just waiting for all 4 balloons to pop.

Not one balloon popped!  Each one touched the tree and got caught in the branches and wiggled its way free to soar!  Clapping and cheering from all as we watched them fly to the heavens.  Those balloons were very symbolic on many levels.  No matter what seems impossible, we can make it thru and thrive.

We watched until we couldn’t see the balloons anymore.

Austin Tyler Johnson would have been 3 months old the day we sent our love on balloons that followed him to heaven.

You didn’t have time to make fingerprints on the wall, instead you made footprints on our hearts.  Yes Dylan, we will always remember Austin.

Pancakes Australian Style!

For those of you who don’t know… my sister Melea married an Australian (Andrew) and lived there for years. Their family recently moved back to the Los Angeles area.

So here I am visiting my sister Melea in San Gabriel, and experienced something new.  She made the family pancakes this morning.  I sat there and watched my niece Emma (who came up with the name for this blog… see June 2008 post for the story) sprinkle sugar on her pancake and then squeeze fresh lemon juice on the pancake.

I found out that was an Australian thing!  So I decided to try it and YUMM-E!!!  That is definitely worth the try the next time you have a pancake.  Light and refreshing.

Google 411

Just leave it up to Google to come up with something like this!  I tried it and it works!

Here’s a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone speed dial: 1-800-goog411.  This is an awesome service from Google, and it’s free — great when you are on the road.

Don’t waste your money on information calls and don’t waste your time manually dialing the number.  I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course and I don’t know the number.  I hit the speed dial for information that I have programmed.

The voice at the other end says, “City & State.”

I say, “Garland, Texas.”

He says,    ”Business, Name or Type of Service.”

I say, Firewheel Golf Course.”

He says,  ”Connecting” and Firewheel answers the phone.

How great is that?  This is nationwide and it is absolutely FREE!
